Mic makers offer their version of high-end rap/female vocal mic for $795
The C-800G is one of the most highly regarded studio microphones in the world. Designed by Sony as a no-expense-spared vocal mic, it has found favour among rappers and female vocalists because of its sound: bright without being brittle. All this comes at a significant cost, though. To be exact, it’s $9,990.
That’s where Canadian mic makers Advanced Audio come in. Their founder and designer, Dave Thomas, has come up with a design that is inspired by the Sony classic but costs less than a tenth of the price, at only $795. We found out more about the new design today at the Summer NAMM show in Nashville.
