AES 2013: Neumann TLM107

First multi-pattern Neumman mic under $2000

The TLM107 is a completely new large diaphragm microphone from German mic makers Neumann. It has a totally new capsule with five polar patterns that is specifically designed to reduce the effects of moisture and humidity

Apart from its contemporary styling, the TLM107 employs a new navigation switch with an LED illuminated display. This tiny joystick-style switch lets you cycle through pad settings (0dB, -6dB and -12dB), low frequency roll-off (linear, 40Hz and 100Hz) and polar pattern, of which omnidirectional, cardioid, figure-of-eight, wide cardioid and hypercardioid types are available.

As well as the mic itself costing under $2000, being Neumann's most affordable multi-pattern model to date, the new EA4 shockmount is also more economical that the previous $300 type, retailing for around $130.

The TLM107 is scheduled to be released at the end of November.
