The Qu series of digital mixers has gone from strength to strength, developing into a complete ecosystem with its own apps and personal monitoring accessories. The latest new member is the Qu-SB. Described as an ultra-compact intelligent mixer and interface, it’s a freestanding or rackmountable stagebox-cum-mixer that’s entirely controlled via iPad, allowing you to mix from anywhere in the venue.
The Qu-SB has 16 mic/line inputs and 12 balanced line outputs, plus an additional pair of line inputs and outputs. This count can easily expanded via the Cat5 digital snake connector, which allows you to attach any of Allen & Heath’s Audio Rack I/O modules, to a maximum of 32 mic inputs and 24 outputs. For computer-free live recording, the built-in 18–channel Qu-Drive interface lets you record and playback digital audio from a USB drive. If you are in a position to connect a laptop, the Qu-SB also features a 32-in/32-out USB streaming interface that’s compatible with both Macs and Windows PCs.
