DC5 frontman's auction should help to raise £50,000 for a special van
In 2003, Mike Smith, the lead singer of the '60s pop group The Dave Clark Five, was critically injured when he fell off a wall. Since then, Mike has been in hospital, and is paralysed from the neck down. He is soon to be discharged from hospital, but he requires a specially designed vehicle to get around. This will cost around £50,000.
To raise money for Mike's van, a charity auction has been set up. So far, items donated to the fund include a signed drum skin from Ringo Starr, as well as Pete Townshend's guitar from the recent Who tour, but organisers hope that fans will donate memorabilia to be sold off at auction. To do this, contact mightyquinnmgt@btinternet.com.
An eBay auction will be starting once more prizes are gathered, but if you would simply like to donate money to 'Van fund', you can send a cheque to:
