Moogfest expand daytime programme

Nile Rodgers masterclass and Janelle Monae added to line-up

Moogfest 2014, Asheville, NC. April 23-27In addition to Moogfest's stellar line-up of evening performances (including Kraftwerk 3-D, M.I.A and Pet Shop Boys), the five-day festival is breaking new ground with its daytime programme of events.

Recent additions to the daytime schedule include a highly exclusive musical masterclass from Chic guitarist and super-producer Nile Rodgers and a session with forward-looking soul artist Janelle Monae in conversation with her producers. Other highlights include an in-depth discussion with electronic music trailblazer Giorgio Moroder, David X. Cohen of Futurama fame, talks with some of Google's brightest minds, as well as film screenings and workshops and loads more.

The festival organisers have invited some of the world's preeminent thought leaders and programming is shaped by keynote presentations from futurist and transhumanist George Dvorsky, Oxford University philosopher Nick Bostrom and Jerome C. Glenn, CEO of the Millennium Project, who's purpose is to improve humanity's prospects for building a better future.

Mix this with talks from electronic musical instrument pioneers Don Buchla, the inventor of one of the first modular synthesizers, father of the drum machine Roger Linn, Tom Oberheim and Dave Smith, and the result is a programme of events that you just wouldn't find anywhere else.

On top of all the talks is the US premier of I Dream of Wires, an authoritative documentary exploring the history of modular synthesizers.
