Pebbles and Bam-Bam monitors to ship this month

More affordable Unity Audio nearfield monitors

Unity Audio announced the Pebble and Bam-Bam studio monitor and subwoofers back at Winter NAMM 2014 in January, where we checked them out, and they'll be shipping this month.

The Pebbles sport the same sealed cabinet design as the existing Rock, Boulder and Avalance sub monitor models for fast and accurate bass reproduction, and also have the same internal cabinet Aperiodic Vent like the Avalanche sub-woofer for extended low-frequency range. The Pebbles will be sold and packaged as a pair and will feature a 5-inch woofer and soft-dome tweeter with two 180W discrete amplifiers. Built and tested in the UK, the Pebbles are designed for critical near-field desktop applications and Unity Audio claim they will outperform competition in similar sized cabinets and larger.

The Pebbles and Bam-Bam from Unity AudioThe Bam-Bam has the same sealed Aperiodic Vent cabinet design and has the same dimensions and 180W amplifier as the Pebble, but it features a single 7-inch woofer. The makers of the Bam-Bam say that these little low-end speakers shouldn't be thought of as sub-woofers, but rather as an expansion for the Pebble. Sold in pairs, the Bam-Bam will run next to or underneath the Pebbles, to create a three-way system with the bass woofer housed in a separate cabinet. This serves, claim Unity, to eliminate unwanted low frequency cabinet resonance in The Pebble mid and HF range, to extend low frequency response and increase SPL. Interconnect cables running power and audio will be supplied with the Bam-Bam package to link audio and power through from The Pebbles.

Both The Pebbles and the Bam-Bam are available this month, and will have an RRP of £1437 and £1248 respectively, including VAT.
