Term is starting and the first students to enter Point Blank’s brand new facility in Shoreditch, London, look wide-eyed and impressed as they take their seats amongst the state-of-the-art surroundings.
More than doubling the floor space of the existing five studio premises, the new building features a 48-channel SSL Duality mixing desk together with seven purpose-built teaching studios for music production, sound engineering, DJing, radio and singing classes. The new building also features a chill-out and collaborative area — The Hub — so students can share ideas outside of the studio.
The addition of the SSL console within the new school facility ensures that students at Point Blank have access to the pinnacle of world-class studio equipment, with the Duality δelta firmly established as the industry standard for large-scale studio and audio production consoles worldwide. In addition to the SSL desk, Point Blank’s new building also boasts the world’s first Ableton Push 2 classroom, together with Maschine and Komplete Kontrol units from Native Instruments, Pioneer DJ equipment and more. Whether starting out in music production or looking to develop skills to advanced level, new students at Point Blank will benefit from the use of the very best equipment alongside highly experienced instructors, ensuring they develop their skills to the highest level whilst connecting with peers in the industry.
On Point Blank’s flagship Music Production & Sound Engineering Complete Master Diploma, students study advanced modules including ‘Remix & Advanced Production’ and ‘Producing with Pro Tools’ which are taught on the SSL Duality and Pro Tools HD rig, two of which exist in the building. Students cover in-depth processes and techniques involved in recording, programming and mixing, along with so-called industry ‘trade secrets’ and techniques that are unique to Point Blank.
