Radial launch a raft of new gear

Effects loop for vocalists and 500 series modules among latest products

Effects loop pedal for vocalistsRadial Voco-LocoRadial have come out with some very attractive gear in the last few years. Their recent Komit Compressor was reviewed in January's issue and now they're back with even more to show off at NAMM.

Just announced are the PreMax combination preamp/EQ and the PreComp combination preamp/compressor which both appear in the 500 series format and will retail for $350 each.

Radial have also got a couple of interesting new pieces of gear for the live musician and sound engineer. Firstly, the StageBug active phantom powered DI box ($80), which the makers claim is primarily designed for acoustic guitars and has a tuner output which doubles up as a 'thru' connection for an on-stage amplifier. Then there's the StageDirect muting direct box ($250) which features a footswitchable mute, for those times when an instrument needs tuning or swapping.

The last, and most unique, product to be released in this round of announcements is the Voco-Loco preamp and effects loop. The unit (right) is designed to give vocalists the ability to have an effects chain akin to that of a guitarist on stage and will retail for $300.
