Steinberg, Intel & Jordan Rudess launch competition
Dream Theater keyboard player,  Jordan Rudess, has been busy of late. Not content with co-creating Hexatone Pro, an innovative new sequencer App for iPhone, he has now teamed up with music software designers Steinberg, and processor manufacturers Intel, to launch a remix competition entitled ‘Keyboard Wizard’.

Entrants are invited to create their own song from original performances provided by Jordan Rudess, using Steinberg’s Sequel 2 Trial Version software. Sequel is a sequencer aimed at beginners, helping them to become “musically creative without needing any musical experience, instruments or other expensive, complicated tools”. It allows the user to create fully arranged Audio and MIDI compositions, as well as perform live with software based trigger pads. Audio quality is limited however, to 44.1kHz operation at 16 or 24 bits, and only limited instances of built in effects can be used for mixing.

The Sequel 2 Trial Version can be downloaded for free from Steinberg’s web-site, and you can head to the Keyboard Wizard web-site to preview sequence some of the loops and song parts in your web browser. First prize in the competition is an ASUS N50VC laptop.
