The Evol Fucifier is a somewhat individual‑looking distortion synthesizer which is, according to the rear panel at least, “Powered by Evil”. Other nods to the occult include a print of the inner workings of a (presumably) human heart on its red behind and a branded wooden front panel. The input gain, vintage germanium mic preamp, analogue filter, distortion section, inductor‑based EQ and output transformer of the beast are all designed to be overdriven in a variety of ways, from subtle crunch to all‑out fuzz mayhem, and each of the colourfully‑illuminated, clear perspex gain‑knobs will change brightness to denote just how far the particular section has been pushed. The distortion section itself has six selectable modes, giving the user an exhaustive range of distortion tones. The Fucifier looks like it could be a good option for producers who frequently use guitar‑amps and other distortion circuits in general production, but craves many tones in a single and convenient 2U rack. Inputs include instrument, line and mic‑level varieties, though it should be noted that the unit does not provide phantom power. The Fucifier is available from Funky Junk and costs around £1900.
