Last year, Zoom launched their Zoom Q3 hand-held video and audio recorder, which, unlike many similar devices on the market, emphasised top-quality audio as well as video-recording capabilities.
At the recent NAMM show in Anaheim, California, Zoom were displaying the Q3HD, a similar device but which, in addition to capturing high-fidelity audio, can record video in high-definition resolutions, up to 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Featuring the same mic capsules as the company’s SOS Award-winning H4N recorder, the operating system has apparently been completely overhauled and is easier to use than the previous version, while the lens and aperture have been made larger, allowing it to cope with a broader range of lighting conditions than the original Q3.
