British software company is the latest acquisition by Avid
Avid Technology, the owners of industry giants Digidesign and M-Audio, have announced that they have acquired scoring experts Sibelius. Avid are said to have paid US$23 million for Sibelius, with plans to offer exclusive product bundles of their highly-acclaimed scoring software with Digidesign's Pro Tools systems. They hope to take advantage of Sibelius' strong following in the education market and use the channels that already exist to distribute their other products to a wider audience.
