This version of the SOS search engine interrogates only the Title, Subtitle, Summary and Keyword fields of our database records, not the actual content of each article.
  • Specify at least one thing to search on, using the drop-down menus to select Month/Year, or type your search text into the top Keyword box. Click the [Search Articles] button.
  • Month = January with Year = 1995 displays the full Contents lists of the January 1995 magazine.
  • Click the RESET SEARCH link to clear out previously-entered text/selections and begin your New search.
  • Bookmark your favourite searches to build up your own reference library of useful SOS article links.
Using the CATEGORY SELECTOR:
This allows you to browse the list of Subjects/Topics in a popup menu which appears when you move your cursor over the dark grey CATEGORY SELECTOR box.
  • To find ALL Mixer reviews SOS has ever published, choose Reviews and Mixer using the CATEGORY SELECTOR.
  • To find only Tascam Mixer reviews, choose Reviews and Mixer, then type Tascam into the Keyword box and click the Search button.
  • To find all our Cubase Notes articles from 2003, for example, choose Techniques, Cubase Notes and Year = 2003.
How to use the KEYWORD box:
Each word is treated individually. To search for a phrase, put double quotes around it, eg. "Akai sampler".
  • If Find all words is checked, entering Triton workstation would find articles containing both Triton AND workstation.
  • With Find any words checked, entering Triton workstation finds any article containing EITHER Triton OR workstation — a huge list!
  • Combinations of part/whole words and/or phrases may be used, but narrow down choices for optimum results. For example, typing "building a studio" in quotes generates no results, but building studio [Find all words] delivers useful results.
  • Typing 1994 into the Query box will not find the 1994 articles, but setting YEAR = 1994 will work.
