Wizard series CD-ROMs for Yamaha's A3000

Support for Yamaha's A3000 sampler continues to grow, with the launch of TekLab Custom Software's A3K Wizard Series of three sample CD-ROMs. Available via their A3K Central web site for US$79.95 each, the CD-ROMs provide a vast collection of playable sounds and breakbeats that take advantage of the synthesis and effects capabilities of the A3000:

CD 1 Spitzensynth, produced by veteran German A3000 user Frank Winkelman, is a collection of "classic Euro synth instrument voicings" -- over 150Mb of European synth sounds, Nord Lead samples, pads, strings, synth basses, epic atmospheres and drums, plus two demo sequences.

On CD 2, Gourmet Plate, UK house musician Jonathan Grant offers over 150Mb of house-style pads and effects, lead and bass instruments, special effects, brass, organs and piano voicings, and a complete TR909 drum kit.

Spaniard Oscar Alvarez is responsible for CD 3, Bucket O' Beats, a huge collection of rhythm samples and breaks aimed at those working in the hip-hop, electro funk, jungle, drum 'n' bass and breakbeat fields; the A3000 v2's Loop Remix features can be used with this collection to create new material.

Also on the A3K Central web site is news of a forthcoming PC tool (with a MacOS version to follow). A3kDisky (US$149.95) allows access to A3000-formatted disks and media via computer, facilitating easier sample editing, program assignment and volume management. A3kDisky includes the ability to drag and drop multiple WAV files directly into a Volume for program assignment and further editing, automatically converting samples into the A3K native format. The web site also offers support for (and access to the authors of) the Wizard Series of CDs mentioned above, along with plenty of general A3000 help and advice.
