Just finished re-fitting my studio. Some new toys to play with, a revamped G5 (with Logic 9) and a more streamlined workflow in general. Could easily spend more but there has to be a limit!

Here be a picture of my stuff:

It's a "mobile studio" though, so it's somewhere different all the time, so the space isn't mine (there's a rack-mounter 17" TFT screen there, so I don't usually take the big monitor - but we were set up here for a fortnight, so I took the job lot.)

Hi

It's mine. Still bass traps to fit, but I love it anyway.

And yes :frown: it is in the corner...

It's been a pleasure to follow this thread.

You've all much to be proud of - large and small.

To the uninitiated it no doubt looks like a bunch stuff, maybe even cool stuff. But not many people really know the pleasure of what you do in these spaces.

Enjoy. You've earned it.

What's with the centre channel? Have you got 5.1 happening in there?

Yes - if you look at the sides of the pic you'll see a couple of rears obscuring the diffusors.

The center, rears and sub are just consumer grade stuff, only used for postition and testing rather than proper surround mixing - we have a better equipped room for that.

Have you found some way of tapping into the cheap processing power of games machines?

Ha if only - the PS3 actually does a pretty good 8-channel convolution reverb, so good in fact i's completely impractical for use in games! Sadly it's audio hardware is pretty high latency. The Xbox is a bit too noisy for me to want to try anything like that and the Nintento box ... it's like having a hairdryer on next to you ffs.

(I do sound for games, those are test/development kits - the big black box is a Wii devkit)

Why have you got a cattle prod next to the Wii dev kit?

I think that's actually one of those 'microphone' things you may have heard of.

Hmmmm - not sure I believe you. I think the desire for realism got the better of you whilst gathering scream sound effects... There's an unconscious intern lying on the floor just out of shot, isn't there?

Nice :)
Fine selection of axes there.
Depending on who you speak to in our house this is either the study or the studio.

Sadly the lack of any treatment gives you a good idea of who's winning this particular debate... ;)

Thanks!

That bass looks great!!

I also don't have full ownership, so my acoustic treatment consists of clutter & guitars (for diffusion) and a very special piece of white goods that help give a 'dryer" sound'

Welladay. I just went through the entire thread and sadly most of the thread has lost its pictures, not surprising when the photos mostly came from 2009. However mine was still there and it was quite, um, interesting just how much has changed in the intervening 8 years.

So, before:

And after:

There's a JV1080 still there and I still have the Handsonic but otherwise I think just about everything has changed.
