The bulk of this is "analogue", i.e. the Fostex D108 and mixer, compressors and the rest. Sharing the same living quarters is the Macbook, Mbox and what have you. The two studios touch at the following points only: 1) the preamps are connected to both the desk and the interface; and 2) monitor outs from the desk and the interface both go to a Samson C-Control.

One day I suppose I'll have to decide which studio I want to keep. At the moment, though, I'm having too much fun with both.

Isn't the Fostex D108 a digital recorder?

That's why I put analogue in quotes. Come to that the compressors are digital as well. I was trying to encapsulate a way of working in a word. In the "analogue" side of my studio I can do every step without recourse to a general purpose computer right through to mixdown. On the "digital" side everything is in the box after the preamps.

How do you like your Harbeth DPM1's..? I have a pair, and always rather liked them for their price, considering they were up against old horrible things like the Alesis Monitor 1's... *ugh*...

Yes theres 2 actually, in front is an 1988 Warwick Streamer stage 2, then a 2004 Corvette 5 string, then a 1977 Gibson RD Custom, Then an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, then a fender Baja Tele, Then a 70's copycaster, and the Acoustic is a Tanglewood TW15 electro...

The Streamer is my baby, and oddly the epi Les paul gets used the most.

Amps are a Cornford Harlequin, and a Vox AC4TV...

Result of 10 years Overtime!!!!

Yes. The rock stuff I do tends to be pretty processed guitar and drum wise. Just about to get the SSL Duende PCIe card for the eq and dynamics though so that the Powercore's are just used for 'verbs and chorus/delay etc. I bought the NonLin2, VSS3 and DVR2 and they sound really nice.
All the very best.
Vinny.

Vinny - just to be clear, that is only one wall of Marshalls you have, isn't it, photographed from 3 different directions? I was marginally impressed for a while. ;-)

Ahhhh... got it. And a very enviable way of working actually. I have a friend who bought my old large 32:8 Topaz mixer that he interfaces with an Alesis HD24, and it is such a slick setup, with a feel much like we used in the old days before DAWs. I kinda miss those days and really like that setup.
