So the AT 4033a would be better than Sontronics?? or even SE? I wouldn't think so brand wise but, you must be right.. I can't quite find a place to buy it from at £160.. any ideas?

'Better' is a very subjective term...most mics are good at some things and not so good at others. The only possible way to be sure is to test all the mics you are interested in but it's not always easy to do that.

I would suggest Fleabay for a decent secondhand AT4033 - I saw one recently sell for less than £100.
