Re: Rode MIcs?
I've just bought a Rode NT2000 and think it's super on vocals (which is really the only thing I need it for).
I used to have an NT1000 which was a good mic for the price but the new one is a nice step up compared to that.
In my opinion if you can fork out a bit more for the better Rodes out there that is the best option - the NTK, NT2, NT2000, K2s.
The only thing I'd add is that I've had little experience with other mics so others may be able to advise you better for your needs.
I got into Rode Mics because I heard the vocal quality two of my friends got with the NT2 so it was a simple decision for me when I was starting out.

Re: Rode MIcs?
I have an NT1, which I am happy with.
It can be a little too "crisp" at times but this is okay with the right preamp, careful positioning and mic technique.
It is cardiod, so the singer has to sing on axis which requires they maintain a constant position or work the sweet spot.
If everything else is in place then I would say you can get a detailed recording with one of these...
You may prefer the tone of another mic though!!

Love my NT5s. My overhead mic of choice and capable of some beautifully delicate stereo recordings.

Røde is on my list as "good value for money".
Not the best, not great - but for what you pay, you get very good value.

Re: Rode MIcs?
I have a pair of NT5's and bought the extra omni heads
They are very good mics, they are not as good as my Gefells but they are very good mics.
