I see this comment very frequently. Mogami and Canare are not expensive. The price of most non boutique mic cable lies within a narrow range. Canare is pretty much the same as any other, and Mogami is, perhaps, 5-15% or so above the crowd. Multi-core carries the same price relationships.

Off the topic from multi-core, Mogami has some sort of mystique, which is exploited not by Mogami, but by the firms which assemble the cables and put them in a blister pack. I see made up short mic cables of Mogami selling for ridiculous prices in some stores. I don't know why people buy this stuff. But ordered from a cable retailer, especially without connecters, it is not too much more than anything else.

As to alternatives, any other reasonably well made cable will do fine.

With prices, make sure you are comparing the same sorts of cable.

I assume that you are in the US given those brand names. Another alternative would be Belden.

Cheaper alternatives would be Horizon or Gepco. I bought a few Horizon cables during the time that they were available in the UK and found that they were well made for the price - certainly better than most cheap cables.

Cheers

James.
