Apogee Ensemble Thunderbolt not booting up properly

Postby sonicindustries » Mon Nov 20, 2017 6:47 pm

Hi

Got an Ensemble that powers on (eventually) but won't connect with my Mac & won't receive any input. Also the 2 OLED's are showing green meters up to about a quarter. Can't get any input display functionality via the select buttons either.

Nothing happens when attempt a re-set

Anybody ever experience something similar? Apogee say it's a hardware failure and 'very uncommon'

Thanks

Sounds like a hardware failure to me, too.

Not the cable as no functionality connected or not

Power not getting to main board? Chip failure?

Guaranteed one thing - will have to sell the house to get it fixed

Out of warranty? Much sympathy. Hope Apogee treat you better than they treated the Ensemble Firewire owners.

Got it off eBay & was working fine over recent weeks

Bit scary something this expensive can just go down..

Same problem here, experienced today. Ensemble thunderbolt booting up slowly, meters for a quarter green, display manifesting a strange behavior, and the software not recognizing the interface.

Well I'm sure you'll take comfort from this.*

Update 1: I spoke with Apogee, they told me to contact my local distributor, since now I relocated to Italy. I contacted my local distributor, and they told me that they are not sure they can handle this since I bought the interface in the USA. Now I recontacted Apogee and I am waiting for their answer.
I am very disappointed -- I bought this top class interface because of the quality of components and the customer care... Was I wrong with both? I will post more as the thing progresses.

Tell me about it. It's a considered purchase for anybody - wish I'd stuck with my Motu 828x now..

Update on the Ensemble.

Turned out to be some sort of 'ROM Issue' and the firmware was updated/re-installed. Wasn't something I could've done as couldn't get a Mac connection - involved disassembling the unit.

Sound Technology sorted it out for me and was just minimum charge - so big thanks to them.

Hey, I literally have the SAME issue. Dealing with Apogee, obviously no help at all. They just wanna bring it in for repair so they can get their money from me. Of course they have to find ways to make these things more profitable in the long run. Can you please tell me what "Sound Technology" is? I need to get mine working again, but I don't have a big budget. I'm based in Los Angeles and I'm desperate to get it fixed (missing out on work) this has brought my work flow to a screeching halt.

parismonroe soundtech.co.uk is a UK-based company. You'll obviously need a similar third-party service centre nearer you.

Pretty sure Apogee list all localised ones
