Oh, my.

I wonder if we’ll see a review?

I'd be very surprised if you don't! :-D

 I doubt I'll ever even get to touch one though...

On a vaguely similar subject, is there a reason why the TLM107 was never reviewed? It doesn't seem to be discussed much here either. It's the most recent new Neumann model as far as I'm aware - a flop?

That's a question for Chris Korff, our section editor for electro-acoustic toys. Neumann are usually good about sending review samples, but I've no idea if we received one. If we did, it didn't come my way...

Don't fret. It looks just like a U87 to someone not in the know, which is most of the people through the studio, so save yourself some thousands and get a U87 ...

Wonder if I’ll survive seeing my credit card statement

No real reason that I can remember, and certainly not a good one! I remember it being announced a few years ago (at an AES show, I think?), and we reported on it at the time, but there's often quite a delay between the announcement and the actual shipping, during which time the trail can sometimes go cold. Neumann/Sennheiser also aren't one of those 'shouty-marketing-look-at-me!' sorts of companies (God bless them), and it's not something they ever pushed for.

I'm more than happy for Hugh to review it though, if there's sufficient interest?

There’s always interest in Neumann microphone reviews!

Especially when it's one of their maybe-nearly-one-day-if-I-sell-a-kidney-affordable ones...

Please do review the U67 reissue! - just don't say it's only fit for use as a rolling-pin or anything as I've ordered one!
I sold my old 67 (1963) in November 2017 with no knowledge of this re-issue, it sounded great but I was always paranoid about aging components. I keep samples of all mics that come through the studio through the same chain, so ill be able to do a direct (ish) comparison when it arrives.

Best regards,

Darren.

No, the rolling pin is the C1000 :bouncy:

You can't even use the C1000 as a rolling pin, it's not round enough!

You can however join two and make a good pair of
nunchukas!

Not sure if I'm allowed to say this here, but my short review of the U67 reissue is on the homepage of another well known website beginning with G that may well be frequented by slutz... if anyone's interested.

Best regards,

Darren

I've just posted a reasonably scientific-ish shoot-out which compares the new 2018 Neumann U67 with a Klaus Heyne modified U87ai over on Gearslutz. There are 24 bit files you can download here:

I must say, by the way, that the re-issue U67 sounds absolutely stellar. Huge, smooth and extremely flattering. It's also very quiet and takes even robust processing with a great deal of ease. A very responsive and nuanced mic. Don't know if it will fit your idea of what a perfect vintage specimen might sound like, but, from my point of view it is highly recommended.
