Anyone own a ESI U168 XT audio interface

Postby Kwaidan » Mon May 07, 2018 10:39 am

does anyone on this board own an ESI U168 XT audio interface.

the reviews for this USB 2.0 audio interface are very few and far between.
i was thinking of purchasing one, as i cannot afford the high priced RME
stuff. yet the ESI one has more inputs and outputs than the highest priced
RME unit.

want to stop using an analog mixer and just use an audio interface now.

Not seen anything about that AI but it does look pretty tasty!

I do have an ESI 1010e, had it quite some time bought from Thomann and..Long/short they did not send me the support discs. I therefore had to try to set it all up myself, downloading the drivers and I got into quite a mess! (I was even more of PC numpty than now) .

I have to say however that support from ESI technical was superb. The guy showed infinite patience with this old fool. Once I had it setup it worked fine. It now resides under my telly and is AI to a living room computer that basically gives me Radio 3 and hosts a printer/scanner. The PC and AI are often on for 12 hrs a day and never give a blip or glitch.

I suggest you download all the manuals and software and get the computer primed as best you can. Order the ESI and plug up PDQ. You then have a week or so to try it out and bounce it back under the Distance Trading Regs if it does not please.

Just saw your interest in Electronic Music? If that means MIDI DO give the AI a hard time of it and check the latency performance.

Dave.

I'm just about to buy one. I'll let you know what I think of it when I get it.
