MOTU Ultralite - Fix or Replace

Postby Mus » Wed May 16, 2018 6:00 pm

Hello guys,

I record guitar and vocals into an Audient Mico, then SPDIF'd into a MOTU Ultralite Hybrid Mk3, which is then USB'd into a WIN 10 Scan i7-7700 3.6GHz PC.

For quite a while the MOTU has regularly started emitting white noise after being powered on. It might be heat-related and I haven't narrowed it down to whether being connected via SPDIF or USB has any bearing.

Apparently it's £114 to look at it and potentially fix.

Just wondering whether it's worth it or if I'd be better off scrapping it and going for a newer interface with potentially better latency/software.

I think up to 4 analogue inputs would be ample, but I do need SPDIF in and MIDI I/O.

The Scarlett 6i6 caught my eye as well as NI Audio 6. Any problems with these and any others worth considering?

Cheers!
