Soundcraft Signature MTKs. USB return pre-EQ?

Postby jellyjim » Sun Jun 24, 2018 11:08 am

Hello

The MTK versions of the Soundcraft Signature desks allow channels to be switched between live source or the corresponding channel being returned from a computer via USB. The SoS review states this is pre-EQ. Does this then mean that you can still use the hardware EQ on the returned audio and that that will be included in the summed stereo out?

So I'm spec'ing some gear for a friend. He wants to record in-the-box (use a computer and not a portastudio or whatever) but track through a familiar hardware analogue front end and mix out of the box also hardware.

Thanks
Jim

The manual has this to say
The Signature 22MTK Input channels ALWAYS send their post-gain, pre-EQ signal to their respective USB recording channel.
The 2-track (Master Left/Right) output uses USB channels 23 and 24 and is always active.
MultiTrack USB input is selectable per-channel with the USB RTN button. When pressed, the USB input channel corresponding to the Signature channel is replaces the normal audio input for that channel (just after the USB output tap: post-gain, pre-EQ).

So, yes, you can use the channel eq on replay but you can't record through it (without some creative patching).

Cool, thanks. He wouldn’t want to then re-record the out of the box EQd channel, just a stereo master once he’s finished mixing
