Yamaha MIDI Program Controller MPC1

Postby jellyjim » Fri Aug 17, 2018 9:17 pm

Hello

Look at this little curiosity I dragged in from the street. A Yamaha MIDI Program Controller MPC1!

As far as I can tell all it does is send a program change command (from 0 - 127) fixed to channel 1. Lolz! It's a very big box for not very much functionality :)

Did anybody ever own one? Can you do anything slightly more cunning with it like change the send channel or send bank changes?! Perhaps by some crafty key combos (I've tried a few including on power up). There's zilch on the net apart from a schematic and an eBay sale for the schematic!

Thanks
Jim

Pretty cool!

No, I doubt it does anything much too clever, I don't think bank changes were defined in the MIDI spec at that time (synths rarely had access to more than 128 patches!).
