Recording help

Postby marcushill3313 » Wed Feb 06, 2019 7:44 am

Hi All,

I’m kind of new to the recording game. I’m trying to setup a bit of a mini recording studio for myself and I’ve come across a problem.

I have a mic with male xlr connector which I have going into my mixer board (soundcraft epm 8) then from the xlr out put I’m using an xlr to 3.5mm cable that goes into a USB audio adapter.

I have no special software or drivers installed but I figured it would work but my mic is not being picked up on my computer.

Would anyone know what I’m doing wrong?
My computer doesn’t have a mic jack on it that’s why I’m using the USB adapter.

Thank you for reading and if you can help

Hi Marcus and welcome to the forums. I think we need to ask a couple of questions first. :)

Just to clarify something first : When you say "usb adapter", are you talking about an audio interface of some sort? Does it have a make / model / name?

And are you running Windows or Mac?

You'll need software to be able to do something with this audio - how are you checking it isn't arriving at your computer?
