Static Sound When Recording

Hi all, have a question about static noise when recording - I am using an Avantone CV-12 tube condenser microphone with a FocusRite Scarlett 2i4 interface but am hearing some static as I record. Here is a sound clip I made with example of what I hear:

file:///C:/Users/casti/Videos/Audio%20Files/Corey2.mp3

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on what might improve the sound quality?

I am set up in small walk-in closet. Door was very slightly propped open (but still was) to fit cords into the room for equipment.

I'm looking to do voice recordings only, not for singing or instruments.

Thank you for your time!

To my ears this doesn't sound so much like static, more as if the mic is picking up environmental noise.

I hear something that sounds very much like a mouse click before the spoken part. If that's the case then I'd hazard a guess that some of the 'static' is in fact the noise of computer fans (there is also a hint of 'electronic whine' in there towards the end).

Is the computer in the same walk-in closet as you are? Ideally it would be better to have it located elsewhere, and perhaps hang a duvet or some similar thick padding between you and it. If that's not possible, then do it the other way around and locate the mic some distance from the closet with the computer in it.

There is also a slight 'boxiness' caused by the sound of your voice reflecting from nearby walls, and installing more acoustic dampening around the area you're speaking in will probably improve this and make the recording sound more natural.

It sounds devoid of static here. The other issues have been mentioned.

May I ask, room sound apart, is that actually the sound of an Avantone CV-12 into a Scarlett?

Thank you for your replys, that is extremely helpful. Yes, that is the sound of avantone cv-12 into scarlett. We're doing another recording this morning with the computer out of the room and more noise dampening. Will post when finished.

When I had a quick listen to the link I felt that the speaker needed to be much closer to the mic and the room acoustics badly needed treatment. Nothing exposes the sound of a poor room more than the spoken voice.
