That's because those of us for whom it's been absolutely no problem don't write our stories on the net.

Yep that's ok it you got a simple setup but try throwing the following at it.....

Virus TI, Yamaha MOXF, Arturia Beatstep, Novation Launchpad, U-Control UC-33, ICON QCON, Focusrite Liquid 56, Roland XV, EMU XL1 and WIn10 has a tizwaz, although it didn't with pre Win10 April Update and with Cubase 8.5 before that W10/04 update all was running sweet as a nut.

At least I know I am not alone......a quick Google on " problems with win 10 april 2019 update" returns 59million results, ok I know that is not truly representative but whilst trying to get the damned thing fixed I came across one site where there were 1000's of complaints, and counting.

My contribution to this absorbing thread is that it is not so much about the asking of the question, but the reaction to the answer that is often the problem with today's yoof - particularly when it comes to Facebook. I have been involved with a piece of radio broadcasting automation software over many years, even helping the developer with ways to improve it. When its help forum moved from Yahoo to Facebook, I like many others moved with it, but I gave up after a while because, like the "fish" analogy, my answers to questions raised tended to be not RTFM, but a detailed, specific direction to a particular paragraph in the help file that would not only give the particular answer, but also, hopefully, provide some context that would be of assistance. The resulting abuse from (mainly loudmouth Americans) who wanted a quick fix was disappointing and so I gave up. I still read the forum and see the same people asking the same basic questions because they not only have no idea what they're doing but can't comprehend the answers they're given because they just can't be bothered helping themselves and want someone to do it for them. Many of these people own and/or operate radio stations in the US which is quite a frightening thought

The worst of all was one occasion half way though doing the company VAT returns, the accountant went to the loo, only to find when she got back Windows had decided to do a major update... for several hours :(

Bear in mind none of the office staff are particularly computer savvy, and just want to be able to use the system as normal users.

One would have thought Will that the IT person would have set the PCs not to update or at least "notify"?

My daughter works for a college and she cannot install anything on her works laotop.

Let's just say that at last count I'm using 30+ USB ports and 24 MIDI ports - and I still have to share chains!

But I will also add that gear has to earn its keep here... ;)

So are tool shops, they are a rarity these days,

We have both locally (though we are down to the last ones) and the latter near my holiday place......

Good grief, Elf, do Sheffield’s street lights dim when you turn it on?

Got to say though, I love how you organise the rack wall by manufacturer :bouncy:

I see a few of my old and recent synths in there, which I've still got, but seriously, you need help. :)

Just for the avoidance of doubt (and before anyone tries to break into the Elf's house) those aren't actually pictures of his room. They're not even the same room.

Carry on...

I can't say I own that many synths right now (though I've owned/played most of them!), but I will say that that the gist of those pictures isn't so very far from the truth...
