I roll my own cables and over the years I've used drums of Sommer, Belden and Klotz (single and multicore) all of which I've found to be easy to work with and adequate for my needs.

In terms of total cost for your build, the actual cable you use is going to be small beans compared to the cost of the connectors. All Neutrik parts seem to have increased markedly in the last 20 years - I shudder to think what a full set of lines for, say, a 24-channel mixer & patchbay will set you back these days.

I used to be a rocker, but now I've gone off it and just sit in one. (JL)
