Request for Review: Marian Digital Audio Electronics

Another poster recently asked if anyone knew anything about this manufacturers product line, and information seems scarce.

Wondering if SOS would be interested in contacting them for some review hardware?

They look quite interesting, similar in scope / concept to a lot of RME kit by the looks of it. I'm personally a bit of an RME fan, but always interested in having an alternative to recommend to folks whose budget doesn't quite stretch. Obviously there's the usual suspects, and I appreciate colour / character preamps and similar features drive a lot of the market - but if there's another vendor in the marketplace with high-quality drivers / support etc . . . well, enquiring minds wish to know!

We have explored the occasional Marian product in past issues - I myself reviewed the Marian Marc 4 MIDI for SOS way back in 2001.

Marian also designed the SEKD range as well as products bearing their own name.

Haha Martin, that review's old enough to vote now! :D

GSIF and non-emulated DirectSound drivers no less, for the sharing-is-caring PCI buss!

Funny you should mention SEKD, as I had the feeling looking at the Marian stuff that they might be an ODM for other branded kit - though I have no idea quite why they struck me so.

In any case, they do look interesting enough perhaps to warrant a more up to date evaluation? What piqued my interest most, apart from the (maybe superficial) similarities to RME was the mention of multi-client WASAPI drivers, which are a bit of a rarity if I'm not mistaken?

I'm not in the market for their wares myself, just thought they might make for a viable alternative - and perhaps an interesting subject for review alongside the usual suspects.

Thanks for chiming in. :)
