Checked... and as I thought, it's a carefully considered no.

Basically, it would clash with and circumvent the existing free Readers Ads service which is a valuable resource to us as it brings traffic to the site. That service already involves quite a lot of effort vetting and managing the ads, and it has all the required legal protections built in. Duplicating that within the forums would add more workload for the backroom team which just isn't practical for the small potential user benefits it might provide.

I think for the time being we'll tolerate occasional 'free-to-a-good-home' type offer posts in the Lounge for the mutual benefit of forum regulars. Anything being sold for money should go in the Readers Ads, please.
