Well when I wired up the battery cable for the HM300 to check it works without blowing my entire pedalboard, I hooked it up to the amp and it still hummed. So I guess you are right, that does answer my question.

Having said that, I don’t want to faff about with a battery clip every time I use the board, so an isolated PSU is still desired for me.

But at least I know now I don’t need to rush to Thommans site immediately!

Ok follow up on this, the battery clip doesn't stop the Behringer HM300 pedal from squealing.

I tried it last night feeding into my Biyang Metal End amp sim pedal. The squeal was pretty bad, and the Biyang is powered by a PSU but the HM300 is powered by a battery clip so there's definitely no grounding issue.

You're supposed to have all the dials on a HM300 dimed, but am I right in thinking all I can do now is simply turn the level dial down?

New clarification: I've just seen a YouTube demo with the same squeal, so its normal for the gain and probably nothing to do with the PSU or the battery, as I suspected.

I guess I'll just have to turn the Level knob down! :thumbdown:

Yep I will get a better PSU eventually for sure. But for now it's not an option sadly, due to funds.

Will my plans for the setting of level at least protect my headphones and ear? I'll also put a noise gate on the Reaper channel.

I’d be tempted to put a limiter on the input channel with zero gain.

Worked on wiring the HM300 back to the PSU during my lunch break and I confirm turning the Level down to about 10 o'clock gets rid of the squeal and still sounds "killer" as the young people say.

I almost broke my Boss TU-3 in the process though. Impressive.
