Zoom Q2n lens hood/cap?

Postby maxed » Sun May 17, 2020 5:23 pm

Do anyone with a Zoom Q2n Handy Cam know of substitute lens hoods and caps? The Zoom ones are expensive for a couple of bits of cheap plastic that fall off and get lost... Thanks, Max

The design of their proprietary hood plus the extreme wide angle field of view of the lens (160 degrees) suggests you will not find a third-party product. There are no threads or a defined mount around the lens where you could install filters or a standard screw-on lens hood or a cap.

At least Zoom has provided a hood and cap. (A low volume product might also be their expectation.)

Super glue. In particular, for the Q2n lens hood; because it doesn't stay on at all.
I've had to reglue ours a couple times, and they eventually break and get lost. But superglue postpones that...

They re-designed it, and included with the Q2n4k, where it twists and locks on.
