Recording Digital Piano ???

Hi

I'm looking to record a video performance, playing a digital piano using only a Samsung android mobile. How do i get to sync the sound of the DP directly to the mobile for a clean audio signal without the external sound of the room.

Any specific equipment, iRig 2 ?

What have you got at the moment? Personally I tend to keep audio and video separate and then sync in post, but it does take more time.
Is it just the output from the piano you want to record? No vocals or other instruments? In which case, what outputs do you have on your piano?

Does the piano have USB? if so an "On The Go" adapter cable might get your piano into the recording app. If not, or if you need to hear a voice too (just digital piano with no ambience would sound pretty unnatural IMO but it's certainly possible to add that in post) then some kind of audio interface would be needed. An iRig type device would probably be the most simple answer in that case.

Hi

Outputs from Digital piano, 2x 1/4 inch audio line outs, and USB B output. Tried the USB B output to OTG to micro USB to mobile, but no audio signal availed. So i assume i will need some kind of interface? Would anyone recommended the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, would that enable a stereo recording?

Assuming the configuration setup would be, audio cable from DP to audio interface, USB from interface to OTG cable, to micro USB mobile, just wondering if that would suffice a stereo recording?

That should* work and there's nothing wrong with Focusrite Scarlett interfaces.

* I'd drop Focusrite support an email asking them the same question, include details of your mobile, Android OS and the recording app you plan to use.

Hi, thanks for your feedback

I may have the opportunity to work with a Macbook Pro using Garageband 10, but would first need to purchase the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, for the audio recording. Would you recommend the FS 2i2 and Macbook pro for compatibility?

I have an old F'rite Saffire Pro24 which works fine with my 2012 MBP* so I wouldn't expect any issues, again for a definitive reply as F'rite support.

* this is my occasional location rig so only get's use once in a blue moon, the rest of the time the Saffire is connected to my equally little used spare Mac Pro in the office. The only issue was that it needs Mavericks or later, the Scarlett may be a different animal.....

What piano is it? Likely USB sends MIDI output (or is just mean for stuff like firmware upgrades, an external computer editor etc).

If you have only analogue outs, the scarletts work a charm.

Without knowing the exact model and reading the manual there is no knowing what the piano USB will output, usually midi but my mates Roland drum module outputs audio but not midi over USB. Or, as you say CS, it might only be for firmware updates.
