I wonder how many reviews it would have got for it had been called 'Smithson' or something? Maybe the name was responsible for generating some of the initial interest?

Well, British companies are managing to get established on the strength of their mics without having to call themselves Newmann, Oldmann or anything else like that. Examples: Sontronics and Aston.
