GAP Pre 73 mkiii Issue

Postby jimh76 » Tue Sep 29, 2020 9:44 am

HI,

I bought it pre 73 second hand a few months ago and it's been working fine. Last night I was trying to put a stereo signal through this one and another one I own, but couldn't match the signals without fully boosting 1 of the pre 73s.
I've since worked out today that the output knob on 1 of the pre 73s does not do anything now. The gain knob works fine, but after putting a test tone through the unit, the output does nothing from completely off to fully on. Strangely the output LEDs in up and down as I raise and lower the output, but the test tone stays exactly the same level.

Any ideas on what this could be? I assume the output is knackered.
Anyone else had this happen?

Thanks in advance.

DOH DOH DOH!

Just checked and the line in on my desk was coming from the insert on the pre 73, not the line out.

Sorry. :headbang:

Glad you found it quickly!

If the meters reflected the output control level but the actual level didn't vary I would have suggested checking the output connections...

Been embarrassed by that kind of faux-pas before now too! :D
