Correct, the choir can sing but not the congregation - please see below.

In my experience, a choir blows out a lot more volume, and aerosol, than a normal congregation!

For accompanied singing, the organ/choir spill or balance is an inherent part of the track. You'll have to live with it as part of the compromise of laying the choir out in that way. Hopefully, you have a sympathetic organist who can select voicings that work with your recording limitations.

Nightmare all round!

As I said before, a simple stereo array ain't gonna cut it no way, no how. You'll have no option but to multimic sections (and possibly the organ) and blend in a post-production mix.

Thanks Hooty. I’m recording this evening and have everything I need ready

Compared to some of live streaming work I’ve done from churches with barely any 4G signal, I’m hoping this simple orft plus interface and laptop setup will be relatively straightforward
