I’m being offered a pair of Adam S3A’s at a very good price, plus an optional Sub 1 (1500€ the pair, 2000€ with the sub)
They have been checked by Adam dealer last year, and I can try them before buying since it’s a local.
The thing is, since it’s a 15-16 year model, is it a wise step?
The room is a well treated 50m2 studio, before you ask
What about the sub? I could not find anything about it beyond a few pictures.
Cheers from icy Spain :D

Re: Adam S3A: still a good investment?
Wasn't it the first monitor having the folded tweeter thing?
So long they work fine and the components etc aren't degraded, if they were sonically good then they'd be sonically good now. Monitors can last a long time, if well handled. My Auratone is about 40 years old :D
Not sure about the price, however: you can get a pair of new A77X at Gear4Music for £1400. Similar specs, new components and warranty in case something goes wrong. So I'd say £1500 is too much - at least half that would just begin to be reasonable to me.

well, the "updated" model would not be the "A" series but the S3H I believe, which is about 2,7k€ each...

Re: Adam S3A: still a good investment?
The A77x is a 2 1/2 way design whereas the S3A is a proper 3 way, so not really apples to apples.
Still seems a little steep for something that now has two newer iterations. Even if the technology hasn't moved on a lot.
Any chance of haggling?

don't know mate... I'm really not the haggling type
the 2 pairs I've seen in Reverb are about 1k€ above... the GAS is intense in me
