Strange whistling / frequency sound with condenser mic

Postby tommytime » Wed Mar 03, 2021 10:15 pm

Hi.

I'm using a Zoom F6 recorder with an NTG3 condenser mic. I'm picking up some an obviously (strange) frequency sound that climbs then drops in tone. I've tried different XLR cables with the same result. If I use a different recorder (Zoom H42) it's no longer there.

Any possible clue what might be causing this? Could it be the preamps on the F6?

Any recommendations appreciated.

Is it happening on all the channels of the F6 or just one?
Do you have a different mic to test it with as well (just to eliminate variables).
