As far as i'm aware, the faders etc won't do anything as they're not motorised. The MIDI implementation in it is just for the transport controls I believe. It's not a control surface for a DAW as such.

Stef, the faders DO have a midi mode.... to control the DAW, but they are not motorized.

offhand i think it emulates a mackie control but without motors.....

So i'd start by setting up Cubase to use an MCU, and work from there.

sadly i neither use Cubase much, nor own a Zed16R to experiment....

i've used one with Logic, it worked fine.....

The Zed R16 certainly can function as a control surface, although it's not a fully featured one, obviously. I don't think that it emulates an MCU, though.

You can download a .pdf and a zip file from here, to help you get the Cubase Generic Remote set up for use with the midi features of the Zed R16. It's written for SX, but should work with Cubase 5 also.

You can then add to or change the Generic Remote settings to your taste. The Cubase manual can help with the Generic Remote too.

Let me know if I can be of any more help.

Ah, I stand corrected.

Ignore what I said, and follow what Idris and Django said!
