Action Brass stabs? How?

Postby Pitchfork » Thu Aug 05, 2010 5:51 pm

Does anyone know where I can get some action brass stabs maybe as one shots as in 0.19/0.20secs in on this :

I Have Kontakt 3 and Library plus EWQSL Platinum (not waded through the brass section yet!) as well as East West Colossus

I just need these superhero action brass stabs really, anyone know where to get these samples online or as part of a library?

I have maybe come across them before but the library is so big i forget where!!! possibly kontakt?

I also have the old Peter Sidlacek (?) Orchestral Colours sample CD which has a few bits on but i dont think anything like this?

Thanks for any help

Those stabs are just fast repetitions on trumpets - you'd be much better off creating them yourself

EW platinum has plenty of trumpet staccatos to choose from (two different solo trumpets, 4 trumpets, mute trumpets etc) - it does also have some trumpet effects (rips etc), but they won't give you what you want

Staccato Trumpets should be on there somewhere, I used these many moons ago and, IMO, they still stand tall. I find layering helps reinforce this kinda repetition, as long as the "main" instrument is dominent... in this case, trumpet(s).

Easily achievable though :)

I have to add something. They're not just staccato notes, they're double- and triple-tongued, which gives them a new sound entirely and you'll have trouble recreating it even with round-robin staccato samples.

Hire a trumpeter or modify the playback of the samples with the envelope and a bit of cleverness.
