How to get the best sound out of Hollywood Strings?

Postby 4 TD » Mon May 28, 2018 2:08 pm

Hello! I’ve been using Hollywood Strings for about two months now, but I can’t seem to get a good, realistic sound out of it. It always sounds synthetic and nothing like what’s played in some of the pieces I’ve heard using this library. Can someone tell me the best way to get a realistic sound out of this library? I’ve also been considering upgrading to Hans Zimmer Strings by spitfire audio, if that’s any better.

The March 2018 edition of the magazine had the last part of a 9 part series about arranging and composing for the sampled orchestra. This series, written by Dave Stewart, might be worth checking out?

From what I've read no matter how good a sample library is to get a realistic performance out of it can require a lot of work with the MIDI as well as the actual performance.
I wonder if you can download a MIDI file from somewhere that might help to understand what is required in terms of MIDI controller data etc?
