Request for stems..

Postby Zukan » Mon Jun 18, 2018 9:31 am

I am about to start compiling content for my latest book on the subject of mixing Hip Hop and EDM, from start to final mastered product.

As I am not a songwriter I would be indebted if you could submit content to be used in the book.

I am after completed songs, be they Hip Hop or EDM. I need the stems in 24/44.1 (or 96) and all rendered without effects and dynamics.

This is a great opportunity for someone to get their content out into the public domain and have it both reviewed and produced/mastered.

I have always followed this protocol for all my books and it has worked out perfectly for both contributors and myself.

I am more than happy to pay for professional stems.

Please feel free to DM me to discuss details.

Thank you for your time.

I should say, Drew, that there is some folk stuff in Eddie's last book, Mixbus Strategies, to be specific, a track from my band Eagle Alley called Cutty Wren. Anyone thinking of offering a track to him for the new book: do it, he's really nice to work with.

No Hip Hop or EDM here I'm afraid, only some light rapping in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1TRbj8FRzE

Let me know if you can use it and I'll try and dig out the original tracks from backup.

Very full of character, and I can still hear that Dire Straits influence, just as I did on your 'In the Heat of the Night' video.

Haha considering that at 17 I was practicing Alchemy's "Sultan" solo for 4 hours a day on my korean red strat copy, I think you'll hear it for a long long time! :D

Don’t wanna rain on Richie’s parade so long as you’re sorted no probs.

Was gonna offer you this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6qAVL4cvLA

The idea being stems were mixed over the new-fangled interweb fingy, I’m not that ‘appy wiv it, ‘owever buck stops wiv moi cos I produced it, so no complaints there.

So there’s an angle there too, I also wasn’t happy wiv ony two recalls, so ‘e did it for five, first one I’ve done by not being present, woulda been better if’n I’d been in studio, you know the score.

If you’re up for it email me and I’ll post the stems & brief for you to download.

Briefly, there’s already dry and wet stems so in dis book, e-book? of yourn you could pick holes, if ness, in mine and explain why you’re doing it this or that way, wotever, and where I went wrong, I can take it man.

I’m assuming you want to use examples/samples etc I’m ‘appy for you to put the whole thing up, treat it as your own, I’m sure you’re 99.99% trustworthy, I figure the 1% cain’t do me that much ‘arm.

Basically, too much compression, not enough separation, especially in the chorus voices could be I dunno, bigger, lush reverb maybe, I think it would sound a lot better wiv a lush polished shiny yank type chart mix….

Image

i think wiv da right mix it could pos dent the charts.

Like I say man if your sorted… next time maybe.

I agree - that's REALLY catchy, a sort of Deep Forest morphed into a dance track 8-)

Knowing Zukan as I do, I can't wait to hear his stem mix version (the bottom end in particular)
