Which ways of reverb application do you prefer? filtered one or the full range one?

Full freq. range reverb like this?

Or just keeping the 200Hz - 5000Hz freq. of reverb and filtering all the rest like this?

I think the filtered one sounds closer but the full range one sounds similar as the Maxwell's one.

Some reverbs do have high and low pass filters - the Eventide 2016 Room reverb certainly does. For me, I tend to put an eq in to remove highs and lows before the reverb if I don't have appropriate control in the reverb plugin. So, either way, I still filter the signal hitting it.

I've just acquired a long time want in the shape of a PCM60. So at the moment nothing gets filtered and I tend to drown everything in it. I'm sure I will settle down to a conservative setting with treble contour on :)

+1

You really do need EQ some way or another with reverb.

I prefer the full fat version myself.

On the main reverbs usually I put some hi and lo pass filters, and sometimes shape the response. On track-specific, it depends on the content. for example in a vocal track there's little to reverberate in the low end so I may well not bother

I also like reverbs with different time constants for high and low frequencies.

I prefer something like the UAD Lexicon 224 for most applications.

Manipulation of decay time over frequency bands works best for me.

It totally depends on the application. On a snare drum, anything goes. On a solo violin, less so.
