Is Logic used by many pros vs Reaper and what are its advantages?

For everything after the recording stage: hardware/software and how you use it.

This is not (or at least should not) be an either-or question. Logic has great samples and VI. Reaper is possibly the best DAW for editing audio and the FX and plugs are often all you need. The two DAWs compliment one another - but neither is much good at mastering.

Yes a lot of free loops and instruments come with Logic but depending on how pro one is then one may not touch a lot of them with a ten foot pole. If you require decent strings or brass then the included patches would not be your first choice. And how often would you need a fake erhu or other obscure instrument? If there is a listing of free content on apples site it would be good to assess what one would or could use. That being said there are some fantastic patches that are useful.

I don't work on tunes for general release, I do music cues for film and tv so in terms of mastering Logic has never let me down. The only time I have cringed listening to a playback has been when watching the film in a badly setup mixing suite! (Too many producers seem to think loud bass = good mix). That being said if using someone to master your material is in the budget I highly recommend it, whatever the mastering software!

And this is where it all comes down to individual taste as I find Reaper fine for mastering but even after using it for 10 years I'm still finding new ways of working.

If you're new to Logic and want to get a feel for what it's like working with it, these videos are a really nice, accessible introduction:

Reaper is not arguably as 'smooth' in terms of its presentation and look, but as mentioned previously, its a powerful tool for audio editing.9 years of use and I have barley scratched the surface beyond basic audio tracking and some video audio editing. Cheap price and very usable plugins for most prosumer use.
