Endless Series plugin By Oli Larkin not working in Logic X

Postby Eargasm95 » Sun Aug 26, 2018 6:49 pm

Hey guys and girls,

It's my first time here so please be gentle, I recently downloaded a demo of a plug-in called Endless Series and I cannot for the life of me seem to get it to work. so the issue is that in Logic X you apparently according to the developer need to insert it as a midi controlled effect. this option is found in the input insert of a software instrument track so if the input is taken by the plug-in how are you supposed to be able to use it as a filter?

If you use logic x I invite you to download the demo and help me figure this out because I'm a bit of a noob at this.

the developer has since told me i need to put some audio on the track and have it record enabled but i still cant play anything in or patch my own synths in

I've obviously tried using it as an audio effect and it's not available in the midi effects library anyway.

now this guy seen in the below video has no issues using it as an audio effect on a software instrument, why? how? please!!!?????

I've spent days trying to sort this out please help me, I've followed the bellow instructions to the letter and still nothing has worked for me please somebody help!!

Hi Eargasm95, and welcome to the SOS Forums! 8-)

We did have an earlier thread in which I mentioned Oli Larkin's Endless Series plug-in:

Unfortunately I'm a PC guy so I can't help you with Logic X queries, but hopefully someone will be along shortly with some suggestions for you.

Fingers crossed anyway!

Oh, and this SOS Support forum is intended for queries about Sound On Sound magazine itself, so I'll move your query to our Mixing forum where it's likely to get more relevant views.

Generally speaking, MIDI-controlled FX plugins need to go in a software instrument track's input slot, in order to receive MIDI. They are effectively "instruments" when loaded like this.

However, they can't receive audio, as instruments do not have (direct) audio inputs like audio plugins do, so you generally pipe audio into them via the sidechain input. If the audio you want to process is on audio track 1, then in the plugin, you select audio track 1 from the sidechain menu.

You'll probably also want to de-route audio track 1 from the main mix, as you likely don't want to hear the dry audio from the source audio track, you want to hear the processed audio from the instrument track with the plugin.
