Hi
I have some CDs from old multi track projects that are multi Wav files. I'm looking at recommendations for a free program that will split these up into their individual wav files. I'm then hoping to import them into my Tascam dp32sd and line them up and do some remixing.
Can anyone help with free programs that will do this? I have a Windows pc.
Cheers,
Jim

Quite a few DAWs can split and/or create multiwavs, but I assumed the OP didn't have a DAW as he mentioned the Tascam, and so just wanted a standalone program for the purpose -- and WaveAgent is easily the best for the purpose with the bonus of being free.

Re: Splitting Multi Wav Files
Cheers peeps,
And you are right Hugh. I try doing everything in my Tascam. I might do the odd bit of autotune in Sound Forge, but only ever work on single wav files in the computer, so the above suggestion is great (thanks Kwakman).
There's nothing like having 20 of so faders and knobs to manipulate, rather than just mouse clicking away. I know you can get quite comprehensive controllers now, but I just love my Tascam firing up and ready in 8 seconds (my attention span is terrible if I have to wait more than...........erm...who's hungry?)
Will try and download Waveagent tonight and let you know how I get on.
Some of the multiwav files are from about 10 years ago, so I'll be drenched in nostalgia by bedtime.
Jim.

Re: Splitting Multi Wav Files
Hmmm
I went on the wave agent page and went to download it. They asked me for my email address so they could send me a link to download the program, but that was a few days ago and I've still not received the email. I've checked my spam, used my work email as well, but still no link has come through. Very strange. Has anyone else had this issue? Are they still giving this away free or have they just provided an old link that's no longer monitored.
Anyway, are there any other freeware there that will do this?
Any help with wave agent or any other program greatly appreciated.

Re: Splitting Multi Wav Files
As Hugh suggests, several DAWs are capable of this. For instance, type the words 'Reaper split polywav' (without the punctuation) into Google...

There is a basic WAV splitting utility available for free from the RME website, with the snappy title of Multichannel WAV File Batch Processor.

I can't recall quite what they were (it was a long time ago) but, fanboy as I am of RME, I remember having some problems using that one...

Perhaps it's an issue with the spam filters on your work email account.
I've just tried it and got the link through in a couple of minutes without any problem.
