Tannoy reveal 802 vs Dynaudio BM5 MKIII

Postby Mihai_dmg » Wed Sep 19, 2018 2:10 am

I want to buy monitors for listening purpose only. I was looking for tannoy reveal 802, but is very hard to find any available at this moment. My next choice will be Dynaudio BM5 MkIII. Ehat i am looking for is a nearfield that will be placed 50 cm away from wall, the room has no treatment, like i said is only for listening, not studio. I saw that dynaudio has the bass reflex opening on the back. Between wall and speaker will be some sort courtain. I am looking for not so aggressive highs and thight and smooth low end, that will not malke the need for a sub. So in my search i found dynaudio to be the replacement for tannoy reveal 802. I dont like Hs8 or Lsr from jbl.
So my question is: can i buy dynaudio and be happy comparing with Tannoy?

Thank you in advance and have a great day!

I think so, yes. The Dynaudios are decent — better than the Tannoys, and understated/unhyped, in a way the Yamahas and JBLs you mention aren't.
