Especially on female vocals which sound so irritating and harsh to me.
I can only describe the following vocal samples as awful sounding , so much so, that I cannot stand listening to them . The list is by no means exhaustive.
Maybe they have to be brighter that the music to stand out, but they sound as though they have some overcooked "enhancement" treatment?
1- "Don't leave me alone" sung by Anne Marie - I'm referring to the intro vocals, not the autotune vocals.
2- Zedd, Grey - Singer is Marren Morris, Grey - "(Meet me in) the middle"
3- Clean Bandit - "Solo" - Demi Lovato singing - Chorus vocals -"quack quack quack" -Old McDonald song!

Does this smell weird to you?
I hardly listen to new productions anymore. The boring rhythms and hideous vocals leave me feeling middle aged. Or maybe that's just me being middle aged. I remember people freaking out about the butthole surfers and I thought it was great...

Take my advice, I'm not using it.

Changing tastes, I guess, and trying to find some novelty. If enough people do it, it's not wrong anymore!

Anyone can go through all the songs even recorded and find things they do no like or/and would do differently.1- "Don't leave me alone" sung by Anne Marie - I'm referring to the intro vocals, not the autotune vocals.
2- Zedd, Grey - Singer is Marren Morris, Grey - "(Meet me in) the middle"
3- Clean Bandit - "Solo" - Demi Lovato singing - Chorus vocals -"quack quack quack" -Old McDonald song!
Different strokes for different folks. We are all different and we all have different taste..
To solve your problem, just do not listen to those you find harsh

I totally agree with this

You would have saved yourself a lot of time and energy by switching off those records and moved on with life instead of analyzing them.
It's like people who dislike youtube videos, why don't you just move to another video? It puzzles me. Anyway, I agree with CJmastering, don't listen to those records, simple.
