I'm trying to avoid any builds Martin. Would rather have something out of the box.

Or place one of those decorative MDF radiator grille panels over the foam, and then cover with a thick felt and cloth....

But it all seems like a lot of effort really for relatively modest gains in sound quality. Personally, I'd just thrown some folded towels or a duvet over the table when I wanted to do really critical listening -- at least as a first step to see if table-top reflections are a significant issue in your room with your speaker set-up. They well not be particularly strong or relevant...

I cunningly leave some cables, mouse mats, leads, picks, discarded bits of hardware, etc on the desk and arrange them into a very carefully placed pile which is optimised to scatter any audio that hits them. It seems to work ok. To the untrained eye, it might look like I'm just a slob, but I'm dead clever really.

Honest.

Yep, I do a similar thing Dave, although my desk-based clutter comprises a collection of hand-made steampunk creations, which I am assured results on even more random reflections

I've just got a couple of large gaming mouse mats either side of my keyboard on the desk - the foam rubber type. Far from perfect, but less reflective than the wooden desktop and the large mouse mat comes in handy.
